Well worth reading. And yes, he's still a smartass.

Custom gear for our 15th reunion

We're less than two years away from our 15th reunion. For those who are wondering, that's October 9-10, 2009. What do you think about designing some custom gear to wear during March On and other events?

Here's what we looked like eight years ago.

Surely we can do better in '09. Granted, our waistlines have stretched a wee bit and our centers of gravity have shifted slightly earthward. But our wallets are thicker these days too. We could get some really nice embroidered golf caps made with a cool logo of some kind on the front. Not to mention t-shirts and sweatshirts and such.

Classmate contact information

I apologize for being so terribly lax about updating everyone's contact info. If you want me to hang onto that duty, let me know and I promise I'll do better. Or would it be better if we left it to the Alumni Association ... or someone else who's willing to volunteer?
Deployable Operations Group footage

The Deployable Operations Group aligns all Coast Guard deployable, specialized forces under a single, unified command headed by a Rear Admiral Thomas F. Atkin.  Yeah, that Tom Atkin ... the one who was a Lieutenant when we showed up as swabs back in 1990.  Man, I feel old.

OK, so it's a hokey government video, but the potential for good video footage later on down the road is there.

Why not a Class of '94 blog?

The class forum works well enough for quick announcements and passing news, it's true.  But unfortunately, many of us aren't members of the Alumni Association and we miss out on the class notes in every issue of The Bulletin.  I don't even know for certain who our class correspondents are (Matt Fay?) nor have I read their work in years.

I think it'd be useful to republish the class notes here, along with more stuff as we get bright ideas (like Russ Bowen's thesis on CG Special Ops forces, or the latest photos).  The format's a lot friendlier than the discussion board-style forum.  Hey, it's the 21st century, right?  Blogs are now more familiar than bulletin boards.  I can very easily set any classmate or spouse up with an author account here, and I'll handle the housekeeping chores.

Who's interested in giving it a whirl?  Leave a comment and let everybody know what you think.
