Why not a Class of '94 blog?

The class forum works well enough for quick announcements and passing news, it's true.  But unfortunately, many of us aren't members of the Alumni Association and we miss out on the class notes in every issue of The Bulletin.  I don't even know for certain who our class correspondents are (Matt Fay?) nor have I read their work in years.

I think it'd be useful to republish the class notes here, along with more stuff as we get bright ideas (like Russ Bowen's thesis on CG Special Ops forces, or the latest photos).  The format's a lot friendlier than the discussion board-style forum.  Hey, it's the 21st century, right?  Blogs are now more familiar than bulletin boards.  I can very easily set any classmate or spouse up with an author account here, and I'll handle the housekeeping chores.

Who's interested in giving it a whirl?  Leave a comment and let everybody know what you think.

Doesn't look like the class in engaged, but I'd be willing to share thoughts from Iraq....

I graduated from the Army's Chaplain's basic course in April, and found myself deploying in September. My assistant and I spent Halloween night picking up the remains of a soldier from the 101st, taking him to his next stop on his way to Kuwait before heading to Dover. It was a very sobering experience and was very hard on my assistant (whose brother is in the 101st). This will be a long 15 months and we will all be forever changed. I hope the clas of '94 will keep us and all those deployed in their thoughts and prayers.

Hi, Melinda! It's nice to hear from you. I'm certain the class would find your contributions fascinating. To that end, I just adjusted your account so that you can create posts, upload files and pictures, and do anything else an author might want. I'll handle all the boring techie stuff and site administration. Just log in with the same user name and password and you'll see the dashboard page. I'll e-mail you the URL to use for logging in.

Hats off to you and your flock for defending the country out there on the tip of the spear. You'll be in my prayers.

FYI, I just heard from Scott Smithers that Greg Myers is over there in Iraq someplace, blogging away. I hope I can find his URL.

Hey, Alo, I signed in, but it just took me to the blog page to let me comment on notes already posted, not start a new post... so, I just commented on Greg's blog. But, I'd be happy to post one and just add things every once in a while as things happen around here, if you could tell me how to do that... think I missed something ;) Also, as my computer hard drive fried, I can't get to my other email account, so you can email me at: melinda.russell1@us.army.mil

To all, We lost a soldier on our post this week. He picked up what he thought was a caulking gun and heard something inside, so started hitting it against the wall. It blew up... a UXO. So, prayers for his family, and that it doesn't happen again. Hard enough to lose someone going outside the wire...

God Bless,

Try logging in again, Melinda. You should see the dashboard screen. Look for the reddish "Write Entry" button. If it's not there, let me know.
